This is the Beginning of the canyon Section of the lake. It is this Fault line that was the inspiration for John Wesley Powell to give this area it’s name. The area on the lake is called the Boars Tusk due to another feature jutting into the bottom left of the picture.

There is so much structure created by the rock features and canyon walls that it can’t help but hold so many fish . A giant lake with much depth with so many smaller streams coming from the mountains to create the fishery.

Our guided trips on Flaming Gorge begin at the Mustang Ridge Boat Ramp which is positioned across the Bay from the Dam and Cart Creek Bridge. The species of fish we will be after is determined between Guide and Client.

Mackinaw Trout are the most popular, but there is some great fishing for Rainbows, Kokanee Salmon and Small Mouth Bass. Carp and some Browns also reside.

Flaming Gorge Reservoir is a beguiling 91 mile long gem, sprawling across the border of Utah and Wyoming. Over the years many records have been established for size of fish on this extraordinary piece of water. Mackinaw Trout (Lake Trout) over 50 pounds. At one time the world record brown came from flaming Gorge. Rainbows over 25 pounds are here, plus a good supply of Kokanee Salmon, and Small Mouth Bass along the very rocky shoreline.
